Tyler’s Uncle Mason briefly appeared as a ghost on this current season of The Vampire Diaries. And it doesn’t seem as though he is set to make a comeback ever again. So, if you’re missing Taylor Kinney, the actor who played Mason, you can catch him in his upcoming series on NBC.

The actor has just signed on and landed the lead to “Chicago Fire”, which, as you may have guessed from the title, is a drama series about firefighters. It’s about the men and women of the Chicago Fire Deparment and Taylor Kineey will play Squad Lieutenant Kelly Severide, who leads an elite squad. His character is described as an “adrenaline-junkie”.

The series is expected to air in the following season, which will begin in Fall of 2012.

The actor has been getting a lot of media mileage for dating pop star Lady Gaga. With this new series, he will be given a chance to prove himself. I do think he’s an capable actor though.
