Here are my thoughts on this episode: I think you learn how insecure Klaus really is which has been key in his motives thus far. I mean with a father like that how could you expect Klaus to be a vampire-werewolf and a good person. You also see how Caroline sees a glimpse of the true Klaus that’s not hidden behind a mask. As for Elijah all he ever wanted was his family, he has always been the middleman with a conscious trying to do what’s right. Then we have Rebekah she seems young at heart, naive and has a cloudy judgement. She does not open up very much so when she confided in Elena and was betrayed this left her feeling humiliated and hurt. I will skip the rest of the Michelson clan as the show has yet to delve into each individual. Now for Elena and the Salvatore brothers, everyone is knocking Elena for what she said to Damon but she felt as though she was not free to make her own decisions when it comes to Damon because he lets his feeling for her overcome her wants and needs , which seems to make Elena to feel defenceless and in need of saving all the time in which she does not want to feel that way .she believes that Stephen has always trusted her and the decisions she’s free to make, I guess this is one of the many reasons she will always love Stephen. Damon has good intensions and is often misjudged which leads him to be self-destructive when rejected by loved ones. Deep down he has a good heart and a low thresh hold for mental anguish which in turn he will try and push down his humanity in order not to feel the pain. As for Stephen He has tried his hardest to keep his humanity it seems he has always wished to still be human now that all he once stood for, believed in and honoured is gone the distraction of killing Klaus seems to be a good coping mechanism for now. But once this chapter is over will he be able to forgive himself from his stricken grief or will it feel like all is lost forever.
P.S have you noticed the strengthening in the Salvatore brotherly bond.
